While this would look great on Poppy, styled in a mod fashion, it looks weird on Tulabelle. Maybe with a different hairstyle she will rock it. My reference for this would be the green fur coat from the infamous 1971 Yves Saint Laurent collection...

Yes, it's this time of the year: the Integrity Toys convention is taking place in Chicago and I will be posting all news related to it and the avalanche of new dolls coming our way. Wednesday is the early arrival and registration day, so we get the chance to see the welcome gift set. It is back again, as in previous years there was only a doll and some time it was only part of an early registration event. Integrity Toys picked the new Industry series for it, and here's Tulabelle. Attendees will be getting more outfits and accessories for her during the convention to complete the gift set.

Wonder which super model she is supposed to be. The fashion is very late 80s - early 90s in style, as are most of them from a few photos that have popped up online. What I noticed in some photos of this doll from people that got her, is that her head and body skin colour do not match, a problem that the first Industry doll had as well and was recalled/delayed because of it. She looks a lot like Hanne Erikson in miniature.

The Industry is a much anticipated new line from Integrity Toys - Tulabelle goes 12". There were many collectors who loved the Tulabelle line but were afraid to venture into the 16" doll world. So now there is a line that transfers the audacious Tulabelle style into 12". There was only one doll unveiled, which looks like testing the waters to me. She is probably sold out from pre-orders in the official dealers right now but if you want one, contact them pronto. She looks nice but a bit tame for me. I was expecting her a bit more outrageous in style. The sculpt looks interesting, much better than her 1:4 scale incarnation.

Tulabelle wears 70s gaucho pants, platform boots, a sheer chiffon blouse and a black and white striped "fur" trimmed coat. A silver clutch, studded bracelets and thunderbolt earrings complete the outfit. Tulabelle™ is a fully articulated 12-inch doll with fully rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included. David Buttry, the doll's designer, notes that as a design choice (not a budgetary decision), they chose to use a very fine, micro-velcro closure on the front placket of Tulabelle's shirt. The reason given for that is that the fabric is very sheer and they did not want to have a visual distraction with the use of hooks and loops, so the decision was made to use velcro. I know some collectors who immediately associate velcro with cheap playline clothes so it will  be interesting to see the reaction. It looks nice in the photos.

THE INDUSTRY doll has a brand new, freshly engineered body sculpt. This new body can be completely disassembled and has interchangeable hands. This feature was decided to help dress dolls in tight, form-fitting clothes and eliminate unnecessary closures that add bulk to scaled clothing whenever possible. THE INDUSTRY body is a completely new body sculpt, except for the hands. The arms, legs, torso, and bust are all new sculpts. THE INDUSTRY shares Poppy's hands. The foot is not the same as the Dynamite Girl foot but a new more delicate, detailed foot with a slightly different arch, although within the same size as the Dynamite Girl foot. The new foot allows her to share shoes with other fashion dolls currently on the market. The bottom leg is removable and in the future, some of THE INDUSTRY dolls will have a brand new articulated ankle and foot. This will enable some dolls to have flat feet and others to have a high heel foot in the same collection. The bust size is similar to the current NU. Face bust size. The doll will have a brand new packaging style designed by Alain Tremblay that includes a portrait picture of the doll with each new release. Below is a photo of the nude body:

It looks like a fusion of Nu-Face and Poppy or Dynamite Girls and Poppy bodies. From the very top of the head to the toe, the body is almost 12 1/4" tall. The body is slightly shorter than current NU. Face but taller than Poppy Parker.

Lady Stardust is a direct reference to David Bowie and his song from his 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Her outfit also references the one Bowie is wearing in this seminal photo by Terry O' Neill while preparing the artwork of his 1974 album Diamond Dogs in London.

Integrity Toys are doing the Happy Dolly Days week again this year - this means a week full of everyday new doll announcements and releases. The first dolls to be presented to the W Club this Monsay were from this year's Poppy Parker Fashion Teen collection. These are 16" dolls and, this time, apart from Poppy, feature her best friend, Mallory Martin. And guess what - the sculpt of Mallory is none other than the old Tulabelle sculpt. Great looking Poppy and I was tempted to add her to my collection (I only have one 16" Poppy and she's blonde) but I could only get one from this collection and there's another one that won my heart in the end (see the last one). Love the outfit too, very mod, reminiscent of Marlo Thomas in "That Girl" TV series.

Mallory Martin is wearing a blue and white polka dot blouse, accentuated with a crisp white collar and cuffs and a hot pink necktie, finished up with a yellow miniskirt. Nude fishnet pantyhose, white faux leather knee high boots, and a matching purse finish off the ensemble. So this is the re-use of the first Tulabelle sculpt. Mallory Martin looks great in this fashion era, although I never was a big fan of this face - I have not got any Tulabelle dolls. I love the outfit but would love more details in the accessories, she is a 16" doll after all.

This is the best of the bunch and the one I pre-ordered. She is of course a recreation of the Sparkle, Poppy, Sparkle! 12" doll from the Cinematic convention collection. I think I prefer this version, even though there is no ring to go with it like her miniature counterpart (tsk tsk tsk Integrity).

Tulabelle is one of the 16" doll lines from Integrity Toys - she's supposed to be Poppy Parker's granddaughter, working as a famous fashion blogger. It is characterized by the modern, often eccentric fashions the dolls wear. Up until now, the doll shared a sculpt with Fashion Teen Poppy Parker, with a more modern look applied. Now, she has a new face. The sculpt has changed to look more adult. As the line's designer, David Buttry said:

The proportions may look fine but the face does look bland and a bit weird. It is if Poppy and Hanne Erikson had a child together. It's good for my wallet though. I like some of the separate fashions and accessories but nothing so much that I'd buy a doll for it. The make up on the dolls though is fantastic - I hope we get to see it on other lines too.
