The 2016 Integrity Toys Convention: Supermodels part IX: The W Club Luncheon

After a Friday night without an official event (only the Bazaar was on), Saturday morning arrived and the last convention day. This means, first of all,  the W Club Members-Only Luncheon. This year it featured Nu Face and the centerpiece was Erin sitting on a miniature motorcycle (which you can find on ebay for more or less the same price one could get it in the convention, it's a Honda Valkyrie model miniature). During the event, W Club owner and stage-host Carol Roth hosted a Q & A panel featuring the IT design team. The designers answered questions that club members sent in online last week. The gift doll was a new-sculpt Colette doll. Jesse Ayala is taking over the Nu Face line design.
In other news, the AHS: Coven first doll is appearing near the end of the month and the first doll will be Angela Basset's Marie Laveau. They confirmed what many suspected, the demise of the Dynamite Girls line. The Industry line is its replacement, will use some of those sculpts but at almost double the price. Makes financial sense, no?

Erin S.™ / NU. Face Dressed Doll
W Club Luncheon Exclusive Table Centerpiece
The 2016 Integrity Toys SUPERMODEL Convention
Limited Edition of 400 Centerpieces
*Motorcycle not included. Sold separately.

This Erin is of course inspired by the famous photoshoot by Peter Lindbergh for thr September 1991 issue of American Vogue seen below:

Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz, Helena Christensen, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Karen Mulder, and Stephanie Seymour. Styled by Grace Coddington, All wearing Versace jackets and skirts.

Erin looks great and her outfit as well, apart from the oversize cap.

So is she Helena or Cindy? Maybe Stephanie? Or Karen?

The bike she was shown on is below. 50 of the attendees were raffled to buy these. You can find it on ebay.

She had nice accessories too

Colette D.™ / NU. Face Dressed Doll
W Club Luncheon Exclusive Giveaway Doll
The 2016 Integrity Toys SUPERMODEL Convention
Limited Edition of 400 Dolls Only

So this is the new sculpt for Colette. This has been a long time coming. Last appearance of the old one as Colette was back in the Rock Wedding Trio if I remember correctly.

The outfit is from Azedinne Alaia's Tati collection from 1991 as seen below on Christy:

She has a ring too and the mules look just like Christy's above left. Pity she does not have a bag.

IFDC 2015: the convention dolls

The International Fashion Doll Convention, organized by the incredible Jim Faraone (if you do not recognize the name, you have a lot of reading and searching to do regarding fashion doll collecting), took place in Las Vegas, this past weekend, with the convention dolls being offered once more by Integrity Toys. They are usually very covetable dolls, as they are limited editions, and only available to attendees, with a very small portion offered via lottery for sale to the W Club members. The convention theme was "42nd Street - Dolls on Broadway, so the IT design team picked the famous musical "My Fair Lady"and interpreted some of the costumes for the convention dolls. Let's see how they turned out. They are using Nu Face sculpts and bodies as part of the Nu Fantasy line.

Without You
The Nu. Fantasy™ Collection
2015 IFDC Convention Companion Exclusive
Limited Edition Size of 500 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: $150.00 + Shipping
IFDC / IT Direct Exclusive

Doll Tech Specs:
Head Sculpt: Erin 2.0
Body Type: Nu. Face 2.0
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair Color: Brunette
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied
"

Without you is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with long rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. She wears a long, lace overlaid, ultra fitted gown with contrasting band at the hem. Exclusive to the 2015 IFDC Convention, this doll also includes a doll stand. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.
Someone mixed their song titles - Without You is the song Eliza sings almost at the end, where she feels totally free and independent from Professor Higgins, the day after the ball. In the film, she is wearing the pink frilly dress, whereas here we see black lave overlaid on nude lining. Great outfit apart from the white lace hem (why?), it does not particularly remind me of any outfit from the film (and most Broadway productions imitate those outfits. Beaton had done the original theatrical London and Broadway costumes as well), except the striped detail at the leg slit and the shoes that is lifted off the horse-race scene magnificent Beaton dress. Another Erin though? There was one already at the latest Nu Face release. And she reminds me a bit of the Erin from last  year's convention. Love the huge ring.

Wouldn't It Be Loverly?
The Nu. Fantasy™ Collection
2015 IFDC Convention IT Direct Exclusive
Limited Edition Size of 500 Dolls
Suggested Retail Price: $150.00 + Shipping
IFDC / IT Direct Exclusive

Doll Tech Specs:
Head Sculpt: Eden
Body Type: Nu. Face 2.0
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair Color: Brunette
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied

Wouldn't It Be Loverly? is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. She wears a pink dress with embroidered bodice and tulle overlaid skirt. Exclusive to the 2015 IFDC Convention, this doll also includes a doll stand. For adult collectors ages 15 and up. There;s a warning from Integrity Toys about the doll's hair:even though they are fully rooted, IT does not recommend taking her hair down as they cannot guarantee that the hair cut will be even and that taking the hair down may ruin this look and will void her one-year warranty. So be careful with that.
Again the song title does not match the outfit inspiration. This pink creation clearly is inspired by the pink fluffy confection worn by Eliza at the aforementioned "Without You"scene, while she is wearing the flower lady outfit (in green) while singing this song. The dress looks very sixties (the hair style adds to this feeling) and the colour looks like a match with the film outfit - but that's where any similarities end, One of the twins finally makes an appearance - which makes me wonder why they did not use Lilith for the previous outfit instead of Erin. She looks a bit awkward posing like that, I wonder how the dress looks if the doll is posed in a more normal position. Too simple shoes compared with the other dolls though.

Danced All Night is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. She wears a white and silver gown. Exclusive to the 2015 IFDC Convention, this doll also includes a doll stand. For adult collectors ages 15 and up. Again, Integrity advises collectors against taking the hair down for this doll as it is not cut even and will void the one-year warranty.
Easily the best doll of the bunch, and not because of the sculpt. Of course it is inspired by Eliza's white outfit at the ball. The dress cut and the hair do and make up are perfect. The fabrics used not so. I'd much rather see this in a white fabric like the yellow one used for On The Rise Elise from last year's FR collection and, instead of micro-sequins, the top band could have bead embroidery like the collar of Nostalgia Dania. The higher price of the doll is not justified for me looking at the complete set, unless the fabric for the dress is that much more expensive (which I doubt). I love the shoes.

Doll Days of Summer: The new Nu Face collection revealed!

Today Integrity Toys officially unveiled to collectors (yesterday for W Club members) the much anticipated Nu Face return collection. Even though the first dolls from this line were presented last year at the Gloss convention, this is the first release for the general public, through dealers. Do not wait, contact your Integrity Toys authorize dealer to pre-order today, as some of these dolls could already be sold out (or ready to be). IT named it a capsule collection. Indeed there are only 5 dolls included, and much to my surprise (and I bet most people's too), no sign of the twins, Eden and Lilith. Colette is absent too as well as Annik. Are they reserved for the convention? We'll see. The look of the fashions is very Versace circa early 90s, from the cuts to the colours to the earrings, without the over-embellishing, which I like a lot. Let's go check out the five beauties who made it.

Erin S.™ Dressed Doll
The Nu. Face™ Collection
Limited Edition Size of 800 Dolls
Retail Price: $135.00 + Shipping & Handling
Estimated Ship Date: Approximately Late Fall/Early Winter 2015

Doll Tech Specs:
Head Sculpt: Erin 2.0
Body Type:  Nu.Face 2.0

Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied

Erin S. is a fully articulated 12-inch vinyl doll with long, rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. She completes her look with laced-up faux-leather heels and an oversized bag. For adult collectors ages 15 and up. Doll cannot stand alone; stand included.

To say Erin is the best doll of this collection would be an understatement. I love everything about her, from the gorgeous outfit (which would be perfect if the coat was in black taffeta and lined with the same red of the top) to the doll's face (she has an amazing expression) and make up. And strawberry blond hair with a Japan skintone? Bring it on! The lovely bag, shoes and earrings, plus two non-descript bangles, complete the outfit perfectly.

Nadja R.™ Dressed Doll
The Nu. Face™ Collection
Limited Edition Size of 600 Dolls
Retail Price: $135.00 + Shipping & Handling
Estimated Ship Date: Approximately Late Fall/Early Winter 2015

Doll Tech Specs:
Head Sculpt: Nadja 2.0 (New Sculpt!)
Body Type:  Nu.Face 2.0
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: Dark A-Tone
Hair Color: Midnight Black
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied

Nadja R. is a fully articulated 12-inch vinyl doll with long, middle-parted, fully rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. Nadja is wearing a contrasting outfit composed of a bright yellow criss-cross long-sleeved cropped top worn with a faux-leather intricately draped mini-skirt. Ms. Rhymes completes her look with a faux-leather and faux-fur jacket, zipped high-heeled booties and a swank bright orange over-sized leather tote. For adult collectors ages 15 and up. Doll cannot stand alone; stand included.

Nadja has always been my favourite Nu Face doll (even though Colette has the same sculpt, she did not click with me like the much more outré and edgy Nadja did) and I was anxiously waiting to see what the new sculpt would look like. I am on the fence about it, seeing the promo photos here, and will wait to have the actual doll in hand to make my final judgement. I can easily say though that she is wearing the second best outfit of the collection. One detail I hope will be different in the final doll though: the uneven hair ends. Although easily corrected with a snip of my scissors, it is not something I expect to see in a doll in this price range.

Item # 82052
Power House
Ayumi N.™ Dressed Doll
The Nu. Face™ Collection
Limited Edition Size of 800 Dolls
Retail Price: $135.00 + Shipping & Handling
Estimated Ship Date: Approximately Late Fall/Early Winter 2015

Doll Tech Specs:
Head Sculpt: Ayumi 3.0
Body Type:  Nu.Face 2.0
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: Japan
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied

Ayumi N. is a fully articulated 12-inch vinyl doll with long, wavy, rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. She is modelling a light grey draped mini-dress, with contrasting charcoal grey nylons and laced up pumps. The look is complete with the addition of a cinched faux/mink overcoat. For adult collectors ages 15 and up. Doll cannot stand alone; stand included

Does this Ayumi look like a twin of the Gloss convention one or what? I still think the original sculpt was much better looking, but she is a beauty in her own right. She's the third lady from this collection to be coming home. She's also the only one not wearing anything brightly coloured. All dolls wear separates, which means great possibilities of mix-and-match for all.

Electric Enthusiasm
Dominique Makeda™ Dressed Doll
The Nu. Face™ Collection
Limited Edition Size of 600 Dolls
Retail Price: $135.00 + Shipping & Handling
Estimated Ship Date: Approximately Late Fall/Early Winter 2015

Doll Tech Specs:
Head Sculpt: Dominique Makeda 2.0
Body Type:  Nu.Face 2.0
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: Light Honey
Hair Color: Luscious Blond
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied

Dominique Makeda is a fully articulated 12-inch vinyl doll with long, wavy, rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. Dominique wears a cocktail dress and hot pink contrasting jacket, complimented by mid-calf high boots, a bag and jewellery. For adult collectors ages 15 and up. Doll cannot stand alone; stand included.

Dominique never did it for me, in any incarnation, and this is no exception. The dress looks like a bad version of the Herve Leger Barbie black and white outfit, which is  not good at all. Lovely eyes though.

Energetic Presence
Giselle D.™ Dressed Doll
The Nu. Face™ Collection
Limited Edition Size of 1000 Dolls
Retail Price: $135.00 + Shipping & Handling
Estimated Ship Date: Approximately Late Fall/Early Winter 2015

Doll Tech Specs:
Head Sculpt: Giselle D.
Body Type:  Nu.Face 2.0
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair Color: Brunette
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied

Giselle D. is a fully articulated 12-inch vinyl doll with long, wavy, rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. Giselle's look is composed of a high-contrast, black lace top with draped satin detail and brooch at the front, midi-skirt and a perfectly cinched shaved faux-fur jacket. For adult collectors ages 15 and up. Doll cannot stand alone; stand included.

The doll that I was expecting to be the star of this collection, is easily the biggest disappointment (personal opinion). I do not like the make up at all, it makes her look weird, more like a cheap imitation of Agnes than her rebellious stylish younger sister. The top is something that Nolan Miller dreamt about in one of his nightmares: only Alexis Carrington Colby could pull this off and that would be back in 1980. Giselle is usually the first character of Nu Face to usually be sold out, so I am happy I do not like this one at all, it saved me the trouble of hunting her all over the place. The bag and booties are amazing though (but are the exact same as Nadja's), as well as the triangular earrings.

Integrity Toys Gloss Convention 2014: part II - Nu Face reveal

As Integrity Toys had announced earlier in the year, the new NuFace body would be revealed in the convention W Club Luncheon - and so it was. The new body is a slimmer version of the new Fashion Royalty body: it has a smaller bust, slightly slimmer waist and a perkier bum, as Integrity Toys' senior designer, the talented Vaughn Sawyers said during the event, talking about the line to attendees. Let's see what dolls were presented.

Item # 82055
Sensuous Affair
Giselle Diefendorf™Dressed Doll
W Club Luncheon Exclusive Centerpiece Doll
Limited Edition of 400 Dolls

Giselle was the centerpiece doll for the luncheon and so she was the first one shown to the participants. The outfit was based on something Vaughn and Jessy Ayala saw somewhere, Jessy sketched a version and Jason Wu had it tweaked to fit his vision and style. She looks gorgeous.

Item # 82056
Chrome Noir
Erin Salston™ Dressed Doll
W Club Luncheon Exclusive Giveaway Doll
Limited Edition of 400 Dolls

The giveaway doll for everyone attending was Erin. She has the 2.0 version of Erin sculpt, again wearing shorts but this time in sequins and a halter neck, very 70s disco babe. Halter necks are back in fashion for real people too. She has a heavy, smoky eye/dark lips make up which fits the era and is also very current. Beautiful.

Item # 82057
Tantalizing
Dominique Makeda™ Dressed Doll
Official Workshop Doll
Limited Edition of 300 Dolls

Dominique is now moved to the NuFace girls team. This was the doll for Uriah's 3D printing workshop, so you had to enroll there (if you did not, you missed on some great goodies) to get her. She looks very disco glam. I love her hair colour.

Item # 82058
Evening Siren
Ayumi N.™ Dressed Doll
IT Direct Store Exclusive
Limited Edition of 600 Dolls

Ayumi now has a new face (again), so this is version 3.0 of this character. Her 1.0 face has appeared in the Poppy Parker line this year so we are now missing the beautiful version 2.0 - hope it appears somewhere. She looks more Asian now than before, a bit like a younger version of the old Kyori sculpt. The doll was available to purchase during the final dinner of the convention. The outfit is navy  blue embroidered lace. Fantastic doll.
