Just in time for the holidays, a new Gene Marshall doll: It happened on 5th Avenue
JamieSHOW dolls released a new Gene Marshall doll just in time for the holidays, and she looks magnificent. The doll is one of the most beautiful Gene dolls ever, I love her make up and hairstyle. The outfit reminds me a bit of the Silkstone Boater ensemble, it is stylish, elegant and very chic for a shopping spree down 5th Avenue. Below are photos and the doll description and details from JamieShow. Preorder her here. It will ship in mid-January 2017.

Holiday Gene Marshall Doll
"It happened on 5th Ave"
Ltd. Edition 100
Pre Order Shipping Mid January
Note: Shopping Bags pictured are not included.
And what happened you ask? Just the earliest breath of Spring New York City ever saw!!! That’s all!!! Well actually, only a few lucky people in New York City were there to see this particular breath of spring, Gene Marshall modeling a chic spring suit, standing on Fifth Avenue in freezing December weather. Of course the photo wouldn’t show up in print for months, but they needed the picture right away. Since Gene was back east visiting her parents she was asked and accepted the assignment.
First assignment was to find a sunny day for the shoot and then a location that wouldn’t look like winter. Fifth Ave. in the 40s filled the bill and Gene bravely wore the lightweight suit and smiled for the cameras in between cups of hot coffee, with an assistant holding a fur coat standing off camera. Her being a consummate actress helped with the chattering teeth and forced smile. The fake world of a Hollywood movie studio was looking pretty good about then.
Gene’s navy silk suit is trimmed with white and navy piping at the neckline, notched cuffs and peplum. Full, white sleeves extend to ¾ length, beneath the bell shaped sleeves of the belted jacket. Black, pearl-trimmed gloves and black and white spectator pumps are the accessories for the extremities, with a crisp white boater and teardrop pearls at the ears topping off this warm weather look! Gene’s platinum hair is pulled back into a chignon of soft curls and her makeup is based on the blush of spring’s first kiss.

Happy Holidays from Superdoll - with four outfits fit for celebrating!
Superdoll have four new outfits available for Sybarite dolls, holiday themed, just in time for the season's festivities. If you buy them all together, you even get a discount. You can shop here. They are all heavily decorated and frilly. I think my favourite one is Emerald Oyster but if Bitter Pill had no beading, I'd go with that one.
ETIOLE SYB/770 Price: £120.00 (Excluding VAT at 20%)
I'm guessing this should have been named Etoile (star in French). A column of black guipure lace lined in nude. The hemline and décolletage have an intricate border design in the "classic" Superdoll temple design. Upon this column is a large star of baguette and pin-dot "diamonds" which holds yet releases a huge flowing train of black organza. Accessories include beaded spiderette neck-piece, hose and slip on towering perspex heels.
DREAMSCAPE SYB/768 Price: £120.00 (Excluding VAT at 20%)
Lined in old rose pink, this voluminous gown of iridescent sequin has a side bust, with a swirl of pale organza swooping and rolling asymmetrically down the gown to the hemline. This burst of organza is held in place with a multitude of corded vines & poinsettia contrasting rose. Atop each "bloom" sits a tiny pile of sequins, pearls and diamanté. Accessories include a Superdoll "classic" headpiece, hose and slip-on towering perspex heels.
EMERALD OYSTER SYB/769 Price: £120.00 (Excluding VAT at 20%)
Lined in nude, this is a flowering leatherette big statement of a gown. It has a straight neck satin bodice on mini corded straps adorned in "diamonds" & "emeralds", that give the illusion of a Superdoll staple, the reverse neck. To further trick the eye, the under-bust of this gown is set with a guipure lace motif adorned with further "emeralds". Accessories include opera length gloves, hose and slip on towering perspex heels.
BITTER PILL SYB/767 Price: £140.00 (Excluding VAT at 20%)
Organza cascading and undulating around a column. The bodice and underskirt are accent by a hot pink satin bow at the waist which convulses into the most dramatic of overskirts. It mixes everything from gleaming turquoise to unusually hot pink accent matte "pearls". Accessories include classic Superdoll gold leaf plume and bow headpiece, hose and slip on towering perspex heels.

Body Sculpt: Poppy Parker
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair: Black
Quick Switch Feature: No
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-applied
Poppy Parker is a fully articulated 12-inch vinyl fashion doll with fully rooted hair and delicately hand-applied eyelashes. Poppy is dressed for the holidays in a long ball gown, her shoulders covered by a rich fur trimmed red velvet cape. Accessories and a doll stand are also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.
She looks like a princess from a fairytale combined with a real princess of the 50s - think a very young princess Elizabeth or Margaret from England or Grace Kelly if she was a brunette. It's a Poppy with a look right back into the 50s which will definitely satisfy the fans that were not that into her early 70s disco look from the convention. Her 800 edition means that people taking part in the lottery have a better chance of securing the right to purchase this beautiful doll. I love the screening as well.
I hope the "fur" trim looks better in real life as in close up it looks a bit tattered. Maybe it would have been better if it had the texture of shaved mink (not real one of course) and more velvety instead of feathery. I love the white-on-white embroidery on the bodice.
Her accessories are a pair of gloves, kitten heal shoes with a bow (again!), a clutch bag, a mistletoe brooch (cute), a fur muff, a pearl necklace, matching bracelet and pearl stud earrings. These look a bit meagre for such a look - a triple strand necklace and matching triple strand bracelet with clasp would have looked so much better, not to mention at least a pair of pearl drop earrings instead of simple studs. No woman in the 50s would be content with these earrings for such a glamorous holiday look for a ball. And finally, the shoes have been done to death. No new design inspiration?
Her bow does not sit well on her hair but its the prototype photos, I hope it looks better in real life. She is a very glamorous looking lady.

Integrity Toys Jet Set Convention 2011 Part II
Friday was a day dedicated to the Poppy Parker line (for the luncheon) and the Color Infusion line (dinner party). The final instalment of Design-A-Doll studio was also open, giving a chance to attendees to make their own doll. At the Poppy Parker luncheon, the centrepiece doll was a Poppy called Ready! Steady! Go! - a mod Poppy with long blonde hair. If she had a pixie haircut, she would have been so Twiggy.
But there was also a Poppy Parker doll handed out as a gift to all attendees: In The Air Poppy is a Basic dressed doll and looks lovely. She reminds me so much of my god-daughter!
But that was not the only gift - a second fashion for their gift-set box (Thursday night an embroidered bustier with pants was given as well) was handed out to all participants. And it looks great. From the fashion styling, I am guessing it might be a Les Shilouettes doll. Both outfits look 50s to me. People actually attending say that the plastic torso underneath feels FR body size. A sneak peek of an upcoming Dynamite Girls collection was also shown. It will be available soon for pre-orders.
The dinner on Friday night was Pucci-themed. Pucci is a venerable Italian fashion brand, famous for their extravagant and bold prints, so it made sense to have the Color Infusion line event inspired by it - and it fits the mod mood of the whole day too. Guests were encouraged to dress mod and prizes were given to the best dressed attendees! The table's centrepiece was Erin as Psychedelic Splash.
Of course there was also a gift for the attendees: another doll, Ayumi (her third incarnation so far) as Sunset Rave. Not my cup of tea but lots of people love this kind of doll so there is something for everyone here.
During the event, Vaughn unveiled a holiday season Monogram line that will be available for pre-order very soon. Three dolls in three different evening gowns, in basic colours (red, blue, green), ready to attend any glamorous party of the upcoming holiday season.
From the top we have: Fascination (red & fuchsia), Illumination (blue) and Jubilation (green). I love the green one (surprise, surprise) and think she will make a great contrasting match with my Monogram Magnetism doll. I hope I can get her. They are all on editions of 300 pieces and will be shipped late October. Tomorrow you will read about the convention collection and doll from the final day of the event.

Season's greetings!
It's this time of the year again to be with friends and loved ones and family and enjoy the warmth of love and steal a bit of well deserved rest to enter the new year with a renewed energy and zest! I wish all of you, my readers, a happy and healthy new year, full of love and joy and many many fulfilled desires!
I photographed Jason Wu's Androgyny Avantguard doll dressed in Mel Odom's Gene Marshall Criss Cross gown - wig by Facets by Marcia, jewellery by ...(if anyone recognizes these, I got them ages ago from a great lady in Prego and lost her card, cannot remember her name), shoes by Joe Tai, chair by Bella! Studios, ornament on her hand by Depot in Dusseldorf.
