It has been a few days since images of the exclusive San Diego ComicCon exclusive She-Ra doll from Mattel surfaced on-line, first in USA-Today and later in various websites and forums. She looks impressive and has a new body design that is somewhere between the Made-to-Move bodies and a superhero sculpt. She will retail for $75 and of course you can only get it if you visit ComicCon.

The thing is that Mattel (or more precisely, the designer working for Mattel who did this doll) has copied the gold sword from a professional Greek comic artist, Yannis Rubus Rubulias, who had done a fan-art depiction of She-Ra back in 2011.

The resemblance is uncanny. It is not the first time we see this kind of copying in the doll world but a major company doing it is the icing on the cake. Whoever designed the doll should have contacted Yannis to ask for permission and copyright. What do you think?

This character was one of the most anticipated in the Jem and the Holograms line of Integrity Toys and now he is finally here to pre-order. He has the Count/Perry Marino sculpt, probably the ugliest face ever released from Integrity. He's definitely a pass from me but most Jem fans will surely add him to their collection. W Club got priority in ordering the doll, which is ready to ship by next week. Any dolls left after that, will be made available to the general public on Tuesday December 1st at noon ET. That link will be available through the company's Facebook page. 

Eric Raymond is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion figure with rooted hair. Comes complete with his signature business suit, briefcase, watch, sunglasses, exclusive character specific paper accessories and shoes. A stand is also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only.

Jem And The Holograms will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the brand next month. Integrity Toys just announced two new additions to their Jem collection (now called the Legacy Collection to separate it from the movie merchandise later this year): Starstruck Jem™ and drummer Craig Phillips™. First introduced in the two-part episode called "The Talent Search", Craig is the brother of Stormer of the Misfits and eventually becomes Aja Leith's beau.

The dolls will be available for pre-order exclusively via IT Direct starting Saturday, September 12th (W Club members are getting a courtesy priority pre-order window). W Club members will be given a priority window to pre-order these dolls before they go on sale for the general public approximately on Monday, September 14th at Noon Eastern. The total cost of each one of the dolls will be $130.00 US + shipping and handling (and tax for Maryland residents only). A deposit of $30 per doll will be required at pre-ordering time to reserve your dolls. These dolls will be expected to ship in approximately Winter 2015. The balance of $100 + shipping and handling (and applicable taxes) per doll will be sent to you via email when the dolls are about to arrive in the warehouse. The dolls will be limited to one per 2015 W Club membership each during the priority per-order period to give a fair chance to a maximum number of fans to obtain these characters. Once the W Club priority period is over, if any dolls are left, they will be made available to the general public and one may order more at that time if they so wish.

There is a new addition to the Jem And The Holograms line and it is the Lindsey Pierce character, a VJ responsible for making the group very famous. She is a fan favourite and was awaited eagerly by collectors of the line. She will be available to pre-order from IT Direct  (Integrity Toys). I like the outfit - it reminds me so much of the early 80s pop star look - Debbie Harry or Olivia Newton-John and pretty much most of the era's ladies were wearing variations of this. Again W Club members will have a day ahead to pre-order. General public will have a chance to buy the doll directly from the Jem & The Holograms dedicated webpage on March 20th 2015, if any dolls are left that is.

Lindsey is a fully articulated vinyl doll with thick rooted curly blond locks and hand applied eyelashes. She comes dressed in an iconic look from the hit 80's animated TV series, which is composed of a one piece bright orange mock neck sleeveless dress accessorized by a wide, low hanging contrasting vinyl belt, bright green tights and gauntlets, a head band, booties, bracelets and gold earrings. She also has a microphone and portable tape recorder. For adult collectors ages 15 and up. Doll cannot stand alone; doll stand included.
