It was about time the W Club presented its first doll for this year - it's mid-April already! It is a Poppy Parker doll, clearly in the Bon Bon style of this year's line. Let's see the doll:

Poppy Parker is a 12-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion doll with a fully rooted hairstyle and hand-applied eyelashes. This gift set includes Poppy's mix-and-match separates, colorful bracelets and silver hoop earrings, her printed tote, two pairs of interchangeable hands, a pair of authentic cork wedgies, bright red slingback shoes and a doll stand, all packaged in a window box gift set. A numbered certificate of authenticity is also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

I am glad I skipped the upgrade Poppy, as this is a much better doll, both in design (well done David Buttry) and as a complete offering. Her new eye screening is more mature and sexy, but so much better than previous efforts in this direction (IFDC, IT Convention). I love the platinum hair (it looks different than the silver of Mistress of Disguise). Her outfits look lovely and very versatile, the jewellery looks nice, except from the earrings. The bag is pure fun and the shoes are to die for - thankfully not another flat classic Poppy shoe in sight. I love the rockabilly vibe with just the right touch of French finesse and joie-de-vivre. Cannot wait to see how the rest of the line will look. And what about the numbered certificate? That is a first for Poppy as far as I know.

Lilith and Eden are 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion dolls with new, duo-toned fully rooted hairstyles. Lilith comes dressed in sleek form fitted matte jersey pants and a purple satin top with black lace overlay, covered by an intricately constructed faux-leather jacket with corset seaming. She completes her look with a faux suede tote, faux leather high-heeled sandals and the introduction of a brand new set of jewellery debuting here in this set for the first time. Eden wears a pink organza cocktail dress with a contrasting black lace overlay and piping detail under a boiled wool look blazer. The W club member can pre-order the doll by placing a deposit until the 19th of October, one set per membership. I bet this will be a very popular set - and why not? The price is good, the dolls look great and the sculpt is one of the most popular.

I like the dolls and outfits and love the accessories. I am a bit sceptical about the hairstyle - it looks modern this season but will date a lot in six months time.

The Winning Doll of the 2014 Integrity Toys convention design competition: As Dusk Falls

In October 2014, the Official Integrity Toys Advanced Design competition took place at the "GLOSS" Convention in Orlando, Florida. As last year, with previous winning design doll Edge Vanessa, the W Club is introducing a doll based on Ms. Julia Leroy's winning entry, "As Dusk Falls" Eugenia Perrin Frost™. As per the rules of the competition, the winning design, personally picked by Jason Wu and other members of the Integrity Toys design team, has gone through various adjustments to make it production ready while preserving the spirit of Julia's original design. I really like the doll and would try to get her if the timing was better.

The doll comes dressed in a look based on Julia Leroy's award winning design from the 2014 Integrity Toys Design Competition, which took place at the Gloss Convention in Orlando, Florida. This doll comes complete with matching accessories and shoes. A doll stand is also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up. W Club members only can get the doll at a price of $130.00 (plus any taxes, shipping and handling). You can pre-order her with a $20.00 deposit. Members of the general public will also be allowed to order this doll; however, the price will be $150.00 for non-members. Julia Leroy started her career in 2003 as a graphic/product designer, but became interested in fashion photography after moving to the US. A few years later, she delved into several professional hobbies. One of them was sewing high-end doll fashions and photographing them in miniature dioramas. The world of modern doll collecting was revealed to Julia in 2007, when she bought her first "Adele Brilliance" Fashion Royalty doll. Julia holds a master degree in design from Academy of Architecture and Art; beyond her education and experience, she is largely self-taught.

"I was dreaming about beautiful real model looking dolls since I was a kid, but the smallest doll I had back in 1988 was a 14 inches "Cinderella" doll and of course, it had nothing to do with modern fashion dolls. I remember making a "bra" with two pom-poms and a stretchy band to make her look like a Disney "Cinderella" and was hiding it that my parents wouldn't notice the "improvement" I created. I never could imagine that 20 years later, I will discover Fashion Royalty dolls.

Since I had some experience in creating doll clothes, I knew I had chances to win but I would never think it actually could happen. That was an amazing feeling to receive such honor by winning in both categories, it's like falling in love for the first time - doesn't matter what your future holds, but you will always remember the first one." - Julia Leroy

What Julia Says About Her Creation:

"I love vintage era fashions and I think many fashion designers are looking to be inspired by it. The competition theme was perfect for me, but I wanted to combine a classic vintage dress with modern edgy elements that even the future Fashion Royalty doll released 30 years from now could easily wear. I chose to reconstruct a vintage looking bodice for my dress and combine it with the today's most popular red carpet "mermaid style" skirt. To make it look effortless and modern, I covered parts of the dress with mesh inserts. I called it "As Dusk Falls" because I imagined my character as a "mysterious lady" - like that old time story about "Cinderella" - when she appears from almost twilight air and everybody looks at her mesmerized by her beauty."

During their 5th anniversary convention in Chicago, JAMIEshow dolls introduced their new basic 16" resin dolls, in a collection titled On Michigan Avenue - inspired of course from the bustling commercial street of the gorgeous city of Chicago. Let's see the dolls.

I love how this one looks of course and it is a good chance to get a much sought after sculpt. Brilliant.

There's something about her face that does not attract me. I love her eye shadow.

She is so beautiful and stylish with that chignon. Reminds me a lot of the models Claude Montana used back in the late 80s.

Both male dolls of this release look handsome and are the best male dolls JAMIEshow has ever released in their main line. Even though they use the same sculpt, the different skin tone and wig caps make a huge difference. I would get both if I could afford them.

A convention doll for W Club members - going or not!

As mentioned in their convention announcement, Integrity Toys announced a convention upgrade doll that can be pre-ordered from all W Club members, whether going to the convention or not. And since the Cinematic event was sold out in 5 hours from its announcement, this is good news for all those on the waiting list (use the link in my previous post to enter) or not going at all. The doll can be pre-ordered until the 27th of April and does not have an edition size yet - demand will determine how many dolls will be finally made. No photo is yet available of the doll, just the concept sketch:

The name of the doll is Reigning Grace Eugenia and the concept is that she is going to be an actress, appearing in a film for the very first time. The preview doll is designed by the Integrity Toys design team and this special preview fashion sketch is by Jessy Ayala. She looks gorgeous, classy and regal. Cannot wait to see her first photos. Of course she is channelling Grace Kelly from Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 film Rear Window, as Erich Ben, another fellow doll collector, kindly pointed out to me. Dressed by Edith Head Wonder if all the dolls of this collection channel glamorous movie stars. Some photos of the real dress below - will we get the hat too? And look at that pleating - it starts from the bust. Love it.

A first for new Color Infusion dolls - available to pre-order from dealers!

Color Infusion is an Integrity Toys fashion doll line that, up until now, was only available in conventions. Their secondary market prices (for those not able to attend an event) were normal or really high, depending on the doll's desirability - but never as cheap as one could buy it from the company. For the first time they are available through dealers to pre-order! W Club members had a day ahead to do that but now they are available for everyone. I am not collecting the CI ladies as they have a different body (the same one as Jem) and larger heads than FR dolls but they are really popular. The collection title is Leading Ladies. The dress reminds me of the OOAK Erin from Gloss convention - that was in red and much shorter. I like the dress but the doll's head looks weird. Could be the bangs.
