The final W Club doll of 2016 is missing the Royalty factor

When I opened the W Club email announcing the final exclusive doll of 2016, read the words "RÉCEPTION À VERSAILLES VÉRONIQUE PERRIN" and saw the doll's face, my mind went straight to Vanessa Perrin True Royalty. I was expecting to see a doll analogue to that one, something glamorous, royal, majestic and resplendent, fitting with the Versailles theme and environment. Alas, no such luck. The doll, while beautiful, is no match to its title, theme or previous experience from this brand. There's no Royalty factor in it. She could be going out for a glass of wine with her girlfriends, not hosting a reception in Versailles for her parent's 35th wedding anniversary (as the storyline accompanying the email mentions). And the background photos of the real Versailles does not do the doll a favour.
I'm on the fence about getting this one. I like the doll, although I'd rather have her in a lighter skin tone, like Japan or Cream. I love the jewellery. The underwear looks nice too. The dress, not so much. No bag either. Simple shoes. I do not have a red-head Vero so it might weigh in on my buying decision.

Integrity Toys Dolly Days 2016: Jem new outfits come with older dolls

The Jem part of the Dolly Days 2016 Integrity Toys week has a twist: they are offering some new exclusive outfits which have never been produced before but they come in sets with previously released dolls - so in order to get an outfit, one has to buy the set that includes a previously released doll. Chances are the completist Jem collector will already have these dolls so it is a problem. On the other hand it makes perfect business sense for the company. The sets are available to buy now on IT Direct. Let's see them below.

Integrity Toys Dolly Days 2016 and the 4th W Club doll

The week after Thanksgiving is the one that Integrity Toys do their Dolly Days special this year. Each Day of the week there is a special offer: sales, new dolls, etc. Cyber Monday was the IT Direct sales day: all dolls in the online Integrity shop were on sale. Tuesday saw an offer of nude doll bodies for all types of dolls on offer and in various skin tones. I also noticed that a body sale always happens whenever I am completely broke. Dang.

Wednesday saw the release of the 4th W Club doll as part of the Dolly Days - which, in my book, is slightly cheating. The W Club dolls will be released anyway, so Dolly Days have to be something completely different. But I guess time is running out and the Club dolls have to be presented and pre-ordered. So, without further ado, here is the new Poppy Parker doll.

Item # PP107
First Taste of Champagne
Poppy Parker™ Dressed Doll
The Bonbon Collection
2016 W CLUB EXCLUSIVE
Approximate Ship Date: May 2017
Limited Edition Size: TBA Dolls Worldwide
Special W Club Price: $120.00

Doll Tech Specs:
Body Type: Poppy Parker™
Head Sculpt: Poppy Parker™
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: Japan
Hair Color: Redhead
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied

Poppy Parker is a fully articulated 12.5-inch doll with fully rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. Poppy wears a sparkling navy blue gown with a long tulle train on the back, matching shoes and delicate jewellery. The look is completed with a miniature champagne set packaged in a miniature golden box. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. Doll cannot stand alone; doll stand included.

This will be my third Bon Bon collection Poppy and I am very happy. She looks absolutely gorgeous: pale skin, red hair and a navy blue gown. Her accessories are also amazing and she has that champagne set as well, so what is not to love? The inspiration seems to be a 1958 Lanvin tulle couture gown designed by Antonio Castillo (photo from here),

The doll pictured is a prototype. Final colours and textures may vary slightly. Star props not included. All doll photos and information contained herein is copyrighted Integrity Toys, Inc. and Intercap Merchant Partners, LLC 2016 and may not be reprinted or disseminated without express written permission.

Third W Club exclusive for 2016 is Graphix from The Jem and The Holograms line!

The third W Club doll for 2016 was announced to members in early November. It's the Jem And The Holograms release of the club dolls, and it is one that was never released in the old Hasbro line. This one may be of interest to graphic designers and graffiti artists too.

Item #14092
Graphix™ Dressed Doll
The JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS™ Collection
2016 W Club Exclusive
Limited Edition Size: TBA
Estimated Ship Date: Approximately February 2017
Special W Club Price: $130.00 + Shipping, Handling and Applicable Sales Tax*.

Doll Tech Specs:
Head Sculpt: Roxy Pelligrini
Body Type: Color Infusion / Jem™
Skin Tone: Hungarian
Hair Color: Honey Yellow With Colorful Sprayed Spots
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied
Quick Switch Feature: No

GRAPHIX™ is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl fashion doll with fully rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes. She comes dressed in her never-before produced signature look as interpreted by the Integrity Toys design team, assorted jewellery, a large portfolio and three miniature spray cans with authentic rattle sound. Doll cannot stand alone, a doll stand is included. For For adult collectors ages 15 and up.

Great attention to detail although the coloured spots on her hair will make her difficult to sell to non-Jem collectors. Using the Roxy sculpt sure is good for economy but it would have been nice to see a new one (maybe from a non-Jem line) used.

Pictures of prototypes shown; final production colours and textures may vary slightly. Any staging props are not included. Case and doll stand pictures are digitally rendered; final production may vary slightly. The 2016 Integrity Toys Convention: Supermodels part X: The final gala night

The final night of the Integrity Toys convention is always the most impressive, important but also emotional, as everyone has to say goodbye. The evening started with the introduction of the final centerpiece of the convention, followed by dinner, the announcement of this year's competition winners, the raffle of the designer OOAK dolls (which were amazing, pity I do not have official photos) and an interview with Jason Wu.
Jason announced plans for celebrating his company's 10th anniversary in 2017 and the introduction of new features in the Fashion Royalty line, starting with a "Velvet Touch" skin finish (sounds similar to Lovetones skin). He announced that as a thank you for everyone who opted to attend convention this year, a special offer would be included with the convention doll: to pre-order the very first Elyse doll that features the "Velvet Touch" skin finish. It seems like the Jason Wu anniversary dolls will be a separate line, sold through international stores, more expensive and with more detailed handmade outfits. More about the actual doll below.
I forgot to mention in a previous post that Victoire is also making a comeback, with a slightly tweaked body (it will be "explosive" like the FR for easier dressing). Cannot wait to see her back.
The moment everyone was waiting for was of course the reveal of this year's convention doll which came with two complete outfits to match the other girls in the convention collection.
Next year's convention will be in Orlando, Florida the weekend of October 19th-21st, 2017 with the theme of Fashion Fairytale. The amazing fairytale inspired editorials of Grace Coddington for the Christmas issues of Vogue came to mind immediately.
The winner of 2016's Supermodel Convention Design Competition Advanced Category was the talented Salvador Lopez Arriaga, so congratulations for him! He got both jury and public awards. His design will come to life later in 2017 as a real Integrity Toys doll. Here's a picture of his lovely creation:

At the intermediary category, public prize went to the amazing Ginny Liezert, while last year's winner, the awesome Jason Kramer got the jury prize. Congratulations both, much deserved!

Item # 91410
Tweed Couture
Dania Zarr™ Dressed Doll
Saturday Night Dinner Table Centerpiece
The 2016 Integrity Toys SUPERMODEL Convention
Limited Edition of 350 Centerpieces Only

This is a suit from the Dior by John Galliano Haute Couture collection from Autumn/Winter 1997/1998, an iconic collection and show. It was worn on the runway, in the parc des Bagatelles, by Debra Shaw, a model and friend of Galliano's.

A simliar look was also shown but with higher shoulders.

..and the only editorial photo of it I could find was this:

Princesse Bundi and Princesse Partabgarh from the Haute Couture F/W 1997 Collection.
Photography by Patrick Demarchelier

Dania looks gorgeous here, and the recreation of the suit is perfection. Love the amazing Masai necklace. The inspiration of that collection was Marchesa Casati and Masai tribal dress.

Pity the shoes are not the fringed ones shown with the actual outfit, they'd be smashing. I do think though that Jordan or Nadja would rock this one much better, just like Debra Shaw did on the catwalk.

Item # 91407
Diva
Dasha™ Dressed Doll
Official Convention Doll
The 2016 Integrity Toys SUPERMODEL Convention
Limited Edition of 500 Dolls Only

Lacroix sweetie, Lacroix! Finally a gown from the master of couture, and a sumptuous one at that. This is from the Christian Lacroix Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1995 collection and this is how it looked on the runway:

Courtesy Harper's Bazaar/Getty Images

Shalom Harlow is the supermodel that wore it best in an editorial for US Vogue that year:

Dasha, still with her trademark sideglance, looks fab here. She does remind me a bit of Karen Mulder and also of her previous incarnation as Renegade, again blonde and in a red dress.

I love the recreation and the detachable train. The jewellery is amazing too. And she has the extra Versace dress too!

Item # 91411
La Vie en Bleu
Elyse Jolie™ Dressed Doll
Designed By Jason Wu Collection
Limited Edition: TBD
Additional 2016 Supermodel Convention Attendee Exclusive
*Featuring the new Velvet Touch skin! More details coming later.

Elyse was not at convention but she made quite an impression. The face looks a lot like Montaine Market Elise, the dress is lovely, with nice detailing. But the stud earrings and the absence of other accessories do not justify the high price (near $200 from what I hear) of the doll. She is too austere, almost looks like a nanny in a fancy dress.

The 2016 Integrity Toys Convention: Supermodels part V: The Color Infusion Style Lab

One of the most eagerly anticipated collections in each Integrity Toys convention is the Style Lab Color Infusion lot. Composed of 12 fabulous dolls and 12 assorted outfits, the boys and girls of this year's Style Lab explore various 90's trends collectively called "Too Funky". It is Vaughn Sawyers' brainchild and his style shines throughout. You can see bits of many 90's trends in this collection and some of the looks are instantly recognisable. As always with the Style Lab, each doll and outfit is sold separately. Conventioneers can pick one outfit plus one doll for $80.00 + tax per combo. A total of six male figures and six female dolls make up the collection.

Monroe Jillian™ Nude Doll

Item # 85120
Pure Love (Fashion Only)

This one is a Spring/Summer 1992 Versace look, worn by Helena Christensen below in an Irving Penn photo:

I cannot say that the doll reminds me of a certain model but Nikki Taylor would be the nearest.

Item # 85108
Dree Hill™ Nude Doll
Wearing...
Item # 85122
Crazy Sexy Cool (Fashion Only)

This looks like Versace again but I cannot place it exactly. A Versus look perhaps. As for the model, Susan Holmes? Stephanie Seymour?

Item # 85109
Laka O'Rion™ Nude Doll
Wearing...
Item # 85121
Poison (Fashion Only)

This one is instantly recognisable from the Autumn/Winter 1992 Versace collection, worn by Christy and Yasmeen Ghauri, who looks a lot like the doll here. Photo by Irving Penn for Versace. The boots are perfection.

The jacket though is from another collection (Autumn/Winter 1991) and what is printed in doll scale, was embroidered in the real thing.

Below is Nadège du Bospertus on the Versace runway with the jacket, from the Conde Nast Archives.

Item # 85110
Tilda Brisby™ Nude Doll
Wearing...
Item # 85119
All That She Wants (Fashion Only )

This is Chanel. I cannot find the exact look but it could be from any year, the style is timeless. How about this Claudia Schiffer from the house's look-book in 1994?

As for the doll, she does not ring any bells - so who do you think she could be channeling?

Item # 85111
Blue Burkhart™ Nude Doll
Wearing...
Item # 85124
Give it Up (Fashion Only)

Most of you will recognize that this one is Jean Paul Gaultier, from the iconic pink corset that Madonna was wearing in many of her appearances back in the day. Even the pose is so Vogue.

The total look seems to be a combination of older and more recent styles, like the one for L' Uomo Vogue below and her MDNA corset version total styling with the shirt.

As for the doll herself, Madonna or maybe Nadja Auermann.

The monocle look is of course from the Express Yourself video...

...and the Blonde Ambition Tour from the era.

Item # 85112
Jaeme Costas™ Nude Doll
Wearing...
Item # 85123
Teen Spirit (Fashion Only)

This is the grunge homage. Perry Ellis by Marc Jacobs, circa 1992. The look, though is from 2012 and the LF Stores, a Los Angeles based clothing brand. The doll either Helena Christensen or Carla Bruni.

Item # 85113
Callum Windsor™ Nude Figure
Wearing...
Item # 85125
Whatta Man (Fashion Only)

This one would look great with shorter hair and another outfit. Which was generally the norm with guys in the 90s.

Item # 85114
Ollie Lawson™ Nude Figure
Wearing...
Item # 85130
Mr. Vain (Fashion Only)

This one could be Versace. Ollie still looks awful.

Item # 85115
Declan Wake™ Nude Figure
Wearing...
Item # 85127
Strike it Up (Fashion Only)

This is probably Gaultier. First Declan I do not like at all.

Item # 85117
Ace McFly™ Nude Figure
Wearing...
Item # 85126
Too Sexy (Fashion Only)

Definitely Versace. Love the penny loafers.

Item # 85118
Tobias Alsford™ Nude Figure
Wearing...
Item # 85128
Hypnotize (Fashion Only)

Either Westwood or Gaultier. Tobias is channelling Darius here.

Item # 85116
Preston Woods™ Nude Figure
Wearing...
Item # 85129
Come As You Are (Fashion Only)

No comment. Did I say I hate grunge? No? I do. with a passion.
