Yahoo! Style and Mattel celebrate New York Fashion Week with a Barbie photo shoot

So Yahoo! has a style magazine. I did not know - who did? Well, obviously Mattel (or more accurately their BarbieStyle instagram account), as they collaborated with them to produce a Barbie photo shoot to celebrate New York Fashion Week. Using the new Barbie bodies (curvy, petite and tall) along with the classic one, the photographer shoots six looks from designers Rick Owens, Balmain, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Jeremy Scott, and Sonia Rykiel and their Spring 2016 collections. Check them out below along with the original outfits from the runways.

The Wall Of Dolls unveiled in Milan during Men's Fashion Week

A Wall of Dolls. Just this one sentence makes a doll collector salivate with anticipation, like the Pavlovian dog of science. But this is not about doll collector fancy. This is a charity affair. "The Wall of Dolls" exhibit in Milan was unveiled during menswear fashion week to help spotlight increasing violence against women, as WWD reported.

“The Wall of Dolls” at the Cultural Center in Via de Amicis.

Fashion designers, celebrities, journalists and writers from Italy collaborated on this event. Fifty fashion designers, among them Missoni, Etro, Max Mara, Trussardi and Eva Cavalli are taking part with their own designed dolls. The beneficiary is human right association Intervita and other nonprofit organizations. The dolls are exhibited on a wall of the Cultural Center on Via de Amicis.

Intervita was founded in Milan back in 1999. According to their mission statement, "Intervita is a non-profit non-governmental organization for development cooperation, recognized by the Italian Ministry of foreign affairs; we are independent, non-denominational and apolitical." "Intervita works in Italy, Asia, Africa and Latin America to support children, women and local communities in the fight against poverty and inequality and to promote sustainable development." "Intervita collaborates with a network of other civil-society organizations to give the most vulnerable people a voice on the Italian and international political agenda, and we are involved in the main networks protecting children's and women's rights."

The Eva Cavalli doll was made by the talented Magia 2000 doll studio

The principal creator of the event, Italian journalist Jo Squillo, said the decision to set up the wall during men’s fashion week was meant to raise awareness among men. The wall is to travel to other Italian and European cities. The initiative was included on the calendar of the Italian Chamber of Fashion with the patronage of the Milan municipality.

Best thing about the exhibit: everyone can add their own doll to the wall. I would love to see what people create and put on the wall, either simply to participate or for someone they know that has suffered from violence.

Jason Wu exclusive doll for Montaigne Market luxury boutique in Paris

Since 2005, Montaigne Market is a fashion check point on Avenue Montaigne in Paris,France. The 350 sq. m. shop, conceived by the architect Joannes Zingerlé in new tones of urban greys, blends some sixty international labels of clothes, accessories and bijoux selected by Liliane Jossua. From party dress to fur, from fine charms to studded perfecto jacket, Montaigne Market, the first multi-brand shop on Avenue Montaigne, offers a huge choice of ultra luxury and cosmopolitan styles. Jason Wu outfits are also available in the boutique. And now, an exclusive doll wearing one of his creations in miniature version will be too.

A mini version of one of his Spring 2014 looks, that Jason made exclusively for Montaigne Market store, will be available in a limited edition of 300 pieces during this spring's Paris Fashion Week. It will retail for 150 Euros (about $200).It will go on sale on the boutique's website as well at the end of February, so get ready!

This is not the first collaboration the designer has done with fashion boutiques. He has previously designed dolls for Colette, Bergdorf Goodman and Jeffrey. “It’s sort of my background, so it’s kind of a tongue-in-cheek thing to do this once in a while. I mean, I worked 10 years as a toy designer before I started my career as a fashion designer. It’s something I just fell into and really liked,” he said in an interview for WWD.

Apart from wearing a perfectly miniaturised version of a Wu original, the doll (she has the Elise Jolie sculpt) also carries a miniature of his Daphne clutch, wears true to scale versions of his shoes and has mini versions of the boutiques shopping bags as well. The style fits the "urban safari" theme that the main Fashion Royalty collection will have in 2014.

Let me see you POUT

POUT, the world premiere exhibition of high end Fashion Dolls by Integrity Toys in Melbourne, Australia, is on show at Chadstone from Monday March 5 to Sunday April 1, located in the Luxury precinct as a highlight of the 2012 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Featuring a show case of 50 couture quality hand crafted high end fashion dolls, the exhibition will be presented on a built to scale fashion stage model designed with inspiration from the runways of Paris.

For those not familiar with the dolls (most of you regulars of course are!), the Fashion Royalty line was conceived and created by Fashion Designer Jason Wu in 2000 whilst he was living in Europe from where he drew much of his inspiration. Over two years in the making the Fashion Royalty collection has redefined the industry standard with their meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship which has seen them become among the most collectible dolls for fashion lovers across the globe. From ultra limited production numbers to exclusive collaborations every detail is captured in the couture quality garments that transform runway looks to collectable dolls.

This impressive exhibition of high end Fashion Dolls is on public show for the very first time in a world exclusive making this exhibition a must see for lovers of fashion, style and glamour. POUT is set to capture the imagination of everyone that loves the allure and beauty of the Fashion world and should not be missed. The show is on until the 1st of April and there is no admission cost! Also some Australian designers have made clothes exclusively for the event, which you can see in this blog. One of the people asked to create an outfit for the exhibit was Hayley Hughes, a stylist and fashion blogger (her photo with her outfit below is from her blog which has many more from the exhibit)

I managed to find lots of photographs from the display through the website of The Age, an Australian newspaper, courtesy of photographer Ken Irwin, so here they are - Alain Trembley is featured in some (setting up the exhibit).
